That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Click on the icon and share your world with others from all over Our World! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for? The colors of autumn are always breathtaking here in the northwest -- even when the skies are gray and they have been gray much of the past week. Sometimes for various reasons, one has to look a bit harder for the beauty in their world, but I have discovered that it is always there if you take the time and truly want to see the beauty. The ugly stuff is always there, too, but just as you can open your eyes to the beauty, you can close them to the ugly. It's knowing that the choice is yours that is important!

Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't.
I was gratified to be able to answer promptly, and I did. I said I didn’t know.  — Mark Twain

The easy confidence with which I know another man's religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also.  — Mark Twain

I've lived through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened.
Mark Twain

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. — Mark Twain

When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained.
Mark Twain

I love the soft turning of the leaves before they really accelerate and explode into golden loveliness. Wonderful sunsets too in your part of the country.

Gorgeous scenery Sylvia, lovely to start the day off seeing these photos. My 'My World' post will be up later on today. Always fun to join in when I can.

Fall in your world has arrived with beautiful autumn colors. I'm so jealous, Sylvia!
I have to travel hundreds of miles to see that kind of colorful fall display.

Thanks for sharing the beauty.
be well, be happy

A real beauty my friend :) Have a great Monday :)

It looks like autumn has come to your part of the world, even at sea level. Here it has yet to make its way down from the higher elevation where snow has already robbed it of some of its color.

Beautiful photos again, Sylvia. I've now almost completely forgotten how many times I've been stuck in traffic on the I-5 while driving through Seattle, and only remember the fun I've had when visiting your city rather than getting through it on the way to Oregon or California.
However, I can never seem to make up my mind which I enjoy more, your photos or the Mark Twain quotations. Wonderful, wonderful, especially "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry..."
Thanks so much, and thank you also for your encouragement during my first attempt at Microfiction. I think, between me and thee, we've got me hooked.

The fall colors are amazing!!

Here, in my area of Eastern Washington, the colors are limited. We don't have to go more than a couple hours away to see them, but it isn't a daily thing.

I especially like the quote on the second to last photo - so true! :D

Those golden sun on the water shots are my favorite, Sylvia, but the fall foliage ones are right up there, too. You give us a good reminder to keep looking toward the good. Thanks!

Hi Silvia; I am back admiring your beautiful scenery. Autumn seems to be on the march colouring the leaves before they fall. I am a big fan of Mark Twain's philosophy. I would have loved him at my dinner table.

Forgive me I'm not here every time to comment, but my life, our life is complicate now. We are both unemployed, me and my wife (she is Silvia too). She was a teacher 17 years, and this year she has not class. I have a problem with my right arm, and I can't work in gardening anymore.... 3 children and no helps...!we are 42 years old, and already to "old" for this coutry :( Sometimes not even the photography make me better.

Thank you for your visit and kind words:
Great hug from Portugal:)

I agree with Mark Twain 100% about travel. I remember our senator, Paul Simon saying that to my son's graduating University of Illinois class.

A delightful collection of views, Sylvia. The wisdom and humor of Mark Twain complement them perfectly.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
