That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Click on the icon and share your world with others from all over Our World! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for?  My world has shrunk this week as my car finally died -- I do mean DEAD as in no more personal transportation. But that doesn't eliminate the beauty of my world, it's just that the one I share with you each week is likely to shrink some! So, let me share some of what I had captured before the car's demise! And believe me, I'm depending on Mark Twain's humor, to brighten and add laughter to the day!
I must have a prodigious amount of mind; it takes me as much as a week, sometimes, to make it up!  — Mark Twain
Of all the animals, man is the only one that is cruel. He is the only one that inflicts pain for the pleasure of doing it.  — Mark Twain
A clear conscience is the sure sign of a bad memory.  — Mark Twain

Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.  — Mark Twain

All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure.  — Mark Twain
Denial is much more then an Egyptian River.  — Mark Twain
Out of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.  — Mark Twain
There are many humorous things in the world; among them, the white man's notion that he less savage than the other savages.  — Mark Twain

You probably need a car than we do. For the distances between places is not so extensive as they are in your country, besides we have good public transport.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos and Mark Twain.
Thanks for your comment. Fortunately my grandchildren are passionate readers like their mothers, who liked to read from an early age. I agree with you that the children of this time are mostly interested in computer games. It's a pity!

Great quotes and photos as always, Sylvia. Your dog is too cute! I'm sorry to hear about your car - mine will hit 180,000 miles soon so I don't know how much longer it will last. But when it dies I will need to replace it as I must drive to work.

What beautiful photos of your world, and of course, Mark Twain has cheered me up no end as well! My world has shrunk - due to moving across the continent and trying to find my feet again. I am so sorry about your car. Thanks for this meme. I love it! Have a wonderful day, Sylvia. Blessings and (((hugs))) Jo

What a stunning set of photographs! Loved the Twain humor too. Don't know what to say about your car, but I sure wish you have a lovely week Sylvia.:)

What beautiful pictures! They could be turned into paintings. :) I am sad to hear that your car died! When I was in high school, my car died--at a tow-away zone. Wishing you the best in getting another vehicle!

Even though I've been a tourist in Seattle quite a few times, and driven through it many times, I think I've only been there a couple of times without a car, but I know what you're facing. I once had a car up and die on the freeway between Vancouver, BC, and the suburbs.
Isn't Mark Twain great? If he can make you laugh, or even just smile, after your loss of personal transportation, I'm very glad he left behind a great many wonderful quotations!!
Cheers, Kay

I hope you get the car problem solved, Sylvia. Although, I must say, if any of these lovely places are within walking distance, you are doing all right. I visited with a photographer this morning who is slightly handicapped and has some trouble getting around. His photos were gorgeous and all were taken from a vantage point in his own back yard. So...

It's been a while - it's nice to see your consistancy. I am sorry about your car. I hope you find a good one soon. I bought a camera, not a great camera but better than what I had. We will see if I can learn to use it.

Hello Sylvie! Oh my, I guess your car couldn't be fixed by a nice young lad on a motorbike like mine was this week (my Monday post)! It may make your physical world smaller, not having a car, but luckily you have the whole of cyberspace to visit... including me in the Philippines! Humor certainly comes in many forms, life itself offers so much of it, but Twain certainly has his way with words. Again I like all the quotes, but the one that resonated most for me was: Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it. Something bittersweet about that imagery, isn't there. Again, your photos are eye candy, and is that cutie pie your companion? Sylvie, may the rest of your week be bright!

Sylvia -- the pictures and quotes are wonderful as always. But I couldn't stop thinking about your car. Oh no..... is there public transportation easily available? I don't know exactly where in the Seattle area you are. And (for that matter) haven't been there in so long that I really don't know what's available anyway.

I am feeling for you.... sometimes I don't even want to go anywhere out of walking distance ... but when I need a car I need one. Yikes!!

Lew said...

Your car has taken you and your camera to some beautiful places! May the car rest in peace and I hope you find a new one to continue your journey! (But a bummer of a way to start the week!)

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
