That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Join us and share your world with others from all over Our World! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for? In spite of gray skies and fog for the most part these days, there's still gorgeous colors to be seen. And sometimes when I least expect it, a blue sky will suddenly smile on me and my world
Reader, suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.  — Mark Twain

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.  — Mark Twain (The Innocents Abroad/Roughing It)

Don't look at the world with your hands in your pockets. To write about it you have to reach out and touch it.  — Mark Twain

Many public-school children seem to know only two dates--1492 and 4th of July; and as a rule they don't know what happened on either occasion.  — Mark Twain

I must have a prodigious amount of mind; it takes me as much as a week, sometimes, to make it up!  — Mark Twain

It is easier to stay out than to get out.  — Mark Twain

Sylvia your world is so beautiful with all the autumn colors. Gray skies don't matter with all the colors of the leaves. Great quotes as usual.

Beautiful photos as always: I repeat myself! I wholeheartedly agree with this statement of Mark Twain: "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.". That's why this meme is so important.
Have a wonderful week, Sylvia!

Love Mark Twain's remark about reaching out and touching the world. By the look of your pretty photos, you do that quite frequently. :)

I enjoyed your interesting comment on my MWT post. I didn't know you worked for a Japanese company and studied Japanese, it sounds fascinating! So many beautiful fall colors in your world this week. So true what Twain says about travel to broaden people's views of the world. I wonder what he would have thought about the World Wide Web.

I just want to to know how much I enjoy a glimpse into your mountainous and beautiful Seattle world.
Thank you Sylvia, for letting see it through you eyes.

What wonderful contrasts your world provides: brilliant sunshine with wonderful fall colours and dark November days . . .
The light in the picture with the blue house is just amazing, such a beautiful capture!

May there be sunshine in your days, hugs and blessings . . . Arija

I love the front yard of the house. I will send you my sunshine to your grey skies. I can't believe it was 85 degrees over the weekend here.

But the misty weather adds mystery.

Enjoy your week!

What a beautiful rock garden you have, Sylvia! I have been trying to make something like that for years. I like Mark Twain- his books are interesting even now.

Beautiful photos as always, Sylvia. Even the ones with gray skies are lovely. Do you still have that much color in your area, or are those first three photos older?

Sylvia K said...

Al, there are some areas that still have an amazing amount of color -- well, they won't after today as we've had very strong winds and it's blowing away pretty much all of the color that was left. The first three were taken a couple of weeks ago. But as you can see from the foggy ones, there has still been a lot of color. Thanks as always for your visit/comment! Always appreciated!

Hi Sylvia...Your world is full of Fall colors and every photo showing off a breathtaking view. Mark Twain sure had a way with words. I like the way you've used his quotes. Thanks for stopping by my Macro Monday post...I viewed yours as well...enjoyed that one, too. You have several Memes I've not seen before. I had a busy day yesterday with not much time on the PC...so I've got to catch up on visiting. Have a great week ...Sue

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
