Evening Words, Wisdom

When I read this quote tonight needless to say it really hit me in light of the AIG mess -- among others, but then I guess greed is definintely nothing new and has been twisting people's lives from the beginning of time. So, there is wisdom from Tagore, but the beauty tonight has to be found in the skies.

The greed of gain has no time or limit to its capaciousness. Its one object is to produce and consume. It has pity neither for beautiful nature nor for living human beings. It is ruthlessly ready without a moment's hesitation to crush beauty and life out of them, molding them into money. ~ Rabindranath Tagore

Beautiful sky... that cloud is like a puzzle!

Your sky is very peaceful and much needed with the turmoil of the AIG scandal. I find it amazing that my mother heard about it in the Japanese news two days before we got it on NBC. This whole thing is so upsetting I can't see straight. Let me look at your sky again. Sigh.

It does look like a puzzle. Also, although this is apropos of nothing, the verification word I'm about to enter is "guess"...the first time in thousands that an actual word has been given to me. It must be an omen...of what, I can't begin to guess.

Could not have been a more appropriate quote for our times.

Now I realise what it is I love about your sky photos. You always take pictures of clouds, which could have been depressing, except that you capture the light turning those clouds into something lovely.

The words you find are the same: you manage to light up dark winters and bad news with an insight or beautiful thought, every time.

Thanks Sylvia!

The quote appliea to all of time, but none more so than this terrible era of economic rationalism.
Still we can seek solace in the sky and beyond...

Did you happen to catch Keith Olberman's sign off last night? It was excellent, and full of barely contained outrage, which he does do well. I'm going to check YouTube and see if anyone's posted it yet, will send a link if I find it.

A very fine quote, and a beautiful sky to balance the world.

Wonderful quote, Sylvia.

Just so you know the U.S. is not the only place where greed runs rampant. We have a large poorly run company in Canada also using public funds to pay bonuses to executives. They think it's a good excuse to say it's "common practice." Hmmm.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
