Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

Who is wise? He that learns from everyone. Who is powerful? He that governs his passions. Who is rich? He that is content. Who is that? Nobody. ~Benjamin Franklin

If we had no faults of our own, we would not take so much pleasure in noticing those of others. ~Francois duc de la Rochefoucauld

Sure God created man before woman. But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece. ~Author Unknown

If the world were a logical place, men would ride side saddle. ~Rita Mae Brown

Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open. ~John Barrymore

Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you. ~Nathaniel Hawthorne

Give and take : the last photo....

Gardens of life,
with upright folks,
holding on closely
to what is theirs;
Counting,
sometimes their riches,
sometimes their blessings,
and
at the fall
of dusk,
locking it all away
to open
again,
on another day.

But some gardens,
are blessed with
those
who also stand upright
but
open to the world;

"What is mine
is yours too;
come partake
freely
of nature's kindness
Sip the nectar...."
And the ballerina in yellow,
smiles,
leaps,
and lands daintily,
on her toes,
amidst a
carpet of white,
bows
hands outstretched,
and says
Thank you !

I'm dazzled that you can put together such great pictures and quotes every evening.

That is so true about men riding side saddle! Seriously. It's also such a perilous way for women to ride horses. It's amazing they were able to ride that way and still balance.

An excellent collection, this! I had to laugh out loud at the sidesaddle...it's so true! But they're all extra-good today I think, and the pictures are marvellous as always. Thanks Sylvia!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
