The history of our race, and each individual’s experience, are sown thick with evidence that a truth is not hard to kill and that a lie told well is immortal. — Mark Twain |
I believe I have no prejudices whatsoever. All I need to know is that a man is a member of the human race. That's bad enough for me. — Mark Twain |
I always take Scotch whiskey at night as a preventive of toothache. I have never had the toothache; and what is more, I never intend to have it. — Mark Twain |

Summary of Life
GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:
1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.
2) When your Mom is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.
4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandma's lap.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:
1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don't hurt.
3) Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground...
5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.
6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy..
GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD
1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional...
2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.
3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.
4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.
5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions...
6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician
7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.
THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:
1) You believe in Santa Claus.
2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.

That's My World!
![]() |
| That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Click on the icon and share your world with others from all over Our World! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for? We've had a lovely day today and I even took the bus to do some grocery shopping primarily because tomorrow is supposed to be windy, rainy and cold! Definitely time for a big pot of homemade soup! But my world is about more than a cold, rainy day and a pot of soup! We've still had some color, some little flowers and some lovely skies, as you can see! |
| Ugich Konitari has left a new comment on your post "That's My World!": 77 is the new 47! Shrugging off those light snowy covers, sometimes almost like blankets; then letting the light breezes massage the bare arms into sprouting new growth and leaves; biting cold winds, tempered by a slowly powering Sun bursting into spring and summer, replete with wild and wet flowers and fruit romancing the birds; And as Summer fades into Fall, she comes into her own, warm in mustard yellow, looking up into a pure blue cool sky, the leaves enriched in gold. They say 77 is the new 47.. And she wraps her confidence a bit tighter around herself, smiles and says, "It's such a wonderful life, isn't it !"...... There's one way to find out if a man is honest: ask him; if he says yes, you know he's crooked. — Mark Twain |
Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of joy you must have somebody to divide it with. — Mark Twain |
I can teach anybody how to get what they want out of life. The problem is that I can't find anybody who can tell me what they want. — Mark Twain |
Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired. — Mark Twain |
Why do you sit there looking like an envelope without any address on it? — Mark Twain |
Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day. — Mark Twain |
There are basically two types of people. People who accomplish things, and people who claim to have accomplished things. The first group is less crowded. — Mark Twain |

Weekend Reflections
![]() |
| Weekend Reflections is hosted by James each week beginning Friday at 11 AM Eastern Standard Time. It's another wonderful way of opening your eyes to new and different kinds of beauty. We are severely short on sunlight this week and my car is dead and gone and I'm now a hiker! So, I'm having to be extremely clever and/or inventive to find reflections. But I did find an interesting one -- I thought. This first one is a neighbor's tree seen through our kitchen door that has a glass window and then that is reflected in the window in the breakfast room!! What I love about it is that it looks like a tree growing in the clouds and looking out it's own window! Ok, Ok, I have a vivid imagination, what can I say??? |
| A plant reflection at the Sanctuary before the car died. I'm still not sure what all the little white specks are, but they were all over the plant and on top of the water. |
Ugich Konitari has left a new comment on your post "Weekend Reflections":
An exponential stoppage
of pistons
in a frenzy
inside geriatric cylinders,
a rotating stop
of the gearbox
and wheels,
she takes
a deep breath,
as she steps out,
wearily,
patting a tired car....
A whisper,
like a message,
and the GPS
voice
intrigues her....
"Hi ! Sanctuary here !
.....
I've watched you
so many days,
its like,
I know your car;
so do the turtles,
and the ducks,
and some very curious trees,
bending to see you
through the water.....
As
for the pollen
and milkweed seeds,
do these young folks
ever listen....
they're all over the place !

Sky Watch Friday!
![]() |
| Time to share your skies, the beauty over your world, the clouds, the colors! Sky Watch is hosted each week by Klaus and the Sky Watch team of Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Join us and the many people from all over the world who share theirs with us each week! Click on the icon and sign up today! We had a beautifully sunny, warm day today -- well, until about an hour ago! Back to grim and gray! But I have to admit that usually even on grumpy days there will be an hour or so of lovely clouds and beautiful colors during the sunset and here are a few. |
Man was made at the end of the week's work, when God was tired. — Mark Twain |
Life should begin with age and it's privileges and accumulations, and end with youth and it's capacity to splendidly enjoy such advantages. — Mark Twain |
A newspaper is not just for reporting the news as it is, but to make people mad enough to do something about it. — Mark Twain |
We are always more anxious to be distinguished for a talent which we do not possess, than to be praised for the fifteen which we do possess. — Mark Twain |
I am opposed to millionaires, but it would be dangerous to offer me the position. — Mark Twain |
I became a newspaperman. I couldn't find honest employment. — Mark Twain |

Smile, It's a Beautiful World!
I owe you all a huge apology for being so unthinking!! This photo was sent to me by a friend who had received it from someone else and it was just so amazing I wanted to share it with you and it never occurred to me at the time that anyone would think I could catch something this perfect, but I should have said so to begin with! It is an amazing pic, and I'm not that good a photographer. I'm glad so many of you enjoyed it and thanks to whomever did take the pic -- there was no name associated with it.
Again, I do apologize.

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
