How to Stay Young!

These words of wisdom have made the rounds many times, but they're always worth repeating and reading again.

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Oh, and one last idea!

As we get older we sometimes begin to doubt our ability to "make a difference" in the world. It is at these times that our hopes are boosted by the remarkable achievements of other "seniors" who have found the courage to take on challenges. Harold Sclumberg is such a person.

I've often been asked, 'What do you old folks do now that you're retired'?
“Well… I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background, and one of the things I enjoy most is turning beer, wine, Scotch, and margaritas into urine”.

Atta way to go Harold! Great words for all of us!

I agree with Susan and Bobbie. Harold sounds like a fun sort of guy who is forever young.

I'm going to take your advice today and find something to do to lift me up over my headache.

We can become our own doctors and diagnose our selves. The ultimate and main ailment is lack of love which manifests in all forms that are seperated or blocked or constipated from the source.

The cure, find love.

If we truly followed your list Sylvia, we would find pure abundance and true Health, and aging would cease to be an issue or complaint.

Enjoyed the Music.

I like Harold. Harold was my dad's name. I lost him last December, he shared the same philosophy.

I love Harold's attitude, too.

It's good to be reminded of what we should strive to be.

If you tell people all the time that you love them, then soon they will ask you: are you going to die soon?:-)

Hahaha the last remark is priceless ! I have to tell that in my painting group !
Otherwise I fully agree with all. Laughing keeps young and never say, "at my time" !!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
