I have never, ever, seen a red mushroom tree. I looks like a giant fungi growing out of the ground. Not a poisonous 'shroom growing there, i hope...

A beautiful and most unusual tree. If you know the name please share.

Many of you have asked what kind of tree it is and from what information I've been able to get, it's in the maple family, but that's all I know. I happened to see it as I was driving through a neighborhood near our house and it was so stunning I just had to snap a picture.

I can't get past The Cunning Runt's comment. What a riot!

I think the tree is a Japanesse Maple. One of those with a difficult to prounce name. They're exquisite every time of year. Those particular leaves are so lacy and delicate, and they dry beautifully for use in a fall arrangement.

CR made me laugh too!!

I wonder how much attention that tree gets in an average day. Would sure make me stop. Sweet little house too.

the color and shape of tree are amazing

Acer Palmatum Red Dragon lace leaf, commonly refred to as the Japanese Maple. It is a stunning example of this slow growing tree. This example would be a a good few decades old.

Thanks for sharing. I had one in my garden in the UK and I miss it.
