NBC's First Read reported the following article today. My, my, it does say a lot about Republicans and Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Choice and you know, all those other silly, socialist/democratic ideas, huh?
Liberty University, the school in Virginia founded by the late Jerry Falwell, has expelled the Democratic Party club on the campus, saying that the national Democratic Party's views contradict the university's mission.
Said a school official in an email to the Democratic club, according to the Lynchburg (VA) newspaper: "The Democratic Party platform is contrary to the mission of Liberty University and to Christian doctrine (supports abortion, federal funding of abortion, advocates repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, promotes the "LGBT" agenda, hate crimes, which include sexual orientation and gender identity, socialism, etc.)."
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe held a conference call with reporters in support of the Democrats at Liberty University.
Of course, one must ask: Just how many Dems attend Liberty?
I miss you Sam!!

Ah, another institution of higher education dedicated to "educating"our youth. Or is that "brainwashing"?
Yes, why would anyone who thinks critically or at all want to go there?
Rachel Maddow featured this story on her show today. The president of the Liberty University Yound democrats said he was "shocked, just shocked!" Hope it's an eye opener for some of those students to maybe get a real liberal arts education somewhere else!
Won't it be nice when religion gets out of our politics?
I hope those students in the Democrat club decide over the summer that they can receive a better education elsewhere.
It always surprises me to see how the strong Conservative Republicans, like in that university, say they love this country, then they turn around and want to change it into an un-American Republican dictatorship.
I think they need to rename the University.
Butler and Bagman beat me to it--the name of that University makes the story either hilarious or very sad. Or both.
Supporting both political parties may be contrary to LU's ideals, but their policies seem contrary to American ideals, such as democracy and freedom of expression and more.
