Happy Thanksgiving Sky Watch Friday!

Join us and the many people from all over the world who share theirs with us each week! Click on the post title to be taken to the SWF website where you can sign up. We've had a little of everything this week in the way of skies and weather. We've had a gorgeous full moon in a clear sky, we've had plunging temps, wind, gray skies and five inches of snow!! It's been a wild ride to be sure! And here are some of our skies!

A Very Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you!

Thanksgiving Day comes, by statute, once a year; to the honest man it comes as frequently as the heart of gratitude will allow.  ~Edward Sandford Martin

There Are Perks to Getting Older!!  Really!!

Someone had to remind me, so I'm sharing this with you guys, too. Don't laugh.....it is all true....
  01. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.

02.. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.

03. No one expects you to run--anywhere.

 04. People call at 9 pm and ask,"did I wake you?"

05. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.

 06. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.

07. Things you buy now won't wear out.

 08. You can eat supper at 4 pm.

 09. You can live without sex but not your glasses.

 10. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.

11. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.

 12. You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.

 13. You sing along with elevator music.

 14. Your eyes won't get much worse.

15. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.

 16. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.

17. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.

 18. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to manageable size.

 19. You can't remember who sent you this list.

20.And you notice these are all in Big Print for your convenience.
Now, tell every one you can remember right now!

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

You have been chosen to receive the blessing of the Snow Fairy. The Snow Fairy can bring you good fortune for one whole year. May YOU be blessed by his good deeds.....

Thanks for this one, Arija!

Sky mirrors

Dry winds
and crackling leaves
and she looks around
the empty trees,
stark in the dark....

There is a definite chill,
she feels
the roughness on her face,
brownish in patches;
and so she
will sit and pine
and grow thinner
day by day,
till
a sliver of her old self.

Cloud lotions,
and Christmas flake moisturizers,
coming up soon,
make her smile,
and touch her face again.

There will
soon be
Dancing with the Stars....

The time for Thanksgiving has come.....

How About a Giggle to Wind Down the Day!!

A young woman was pulled over for speeding. An Oregon State Trooper walked to her car window, flipping open his ticket book.

"I bet you're going to sell me a ticket to the State Trooper's Ball," the young woman said.

He replied, "Oregon State Troopers don't have balls."

There was a moment of silence. He then closed his book, tipped his hat, got back into his patrol car and left.

Way to go, Girl!!!

Weekend Reflections

Weekend Reflections is hosted by James each week beginning Friday at 11 AM Eastern Standard Time. It's another wonderful way of opening your eyes to new and different kinds of beauty. Once again our weather hasn't been particularly encouraging for any activity that requires sunlight! It's cold, windy, rainy as you can see in this first shot. That same neighbors tree showed up again in that reflection of a reflection and you can see the rain drops -- I haven't been trying to fool you! And you can see the reflection of the overhead light in the breakfast room. Then, of course, some of the other old regulars along with some more colored ones! Hope you have a wonderful weekend with lots of love and laughter and good food and a warm place to escape the cold!!

Ugich Konitari has left a new comment for "Sky Watch Friday!":

The Last Picture Show

If
all the world's
a stage,
and all the sky
the curtain,
then,
given what
goes on
in the name
of
religion,
power,
insults,
fatwas,
defense,
attack,
and so on,
is it any wonder,
that the moon
checks
again and again,
through
the stage curtain
before
making an effort
to appear
in the sky ?

An Old Laugh for the Day, But Still Funny!

 Nymphomaniac Convention

A man boarded an airplane and took his seat.. As he settled in, he glanced up and saw the most beautiful woman boarding the plane..
He soon realized she was heading straight towards his seat ... As fate would have it, she took the seat right beside his..

Eager to strike up a conversation he blurted out, "Business trip or pleasure?"

She turned, smiled and said, "Business. I'm going to the Annual Nymphomaniacs of America Convention in  Boston  "
He swallowed hard. Here was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen sitting next to him, and she was going to a meeting of nymphomaniacs.

Struggling to maintain his composure, he calmly asked, "What's your business role at this convention?"

"Lecturer," she responded. "I use information that I have learned from my personal experiences to debunk some of the popular myths about sexuality."

"Really?" he said. "And what kind of myths are there?"

"Well," she explained, "one popular myth is that African-American men are the most well-endowed of all men, when in fact it is the Native American Indian who is most likely to possess that trait.

Another popular myth is that Frenchmen are the best lovers, when actually it is men of Jewish descent who are the best.

I have also discovered that the lover with absolutely the best stamina is the Southern Redneck."

Suddenly the woman became a little uncomfortable and blushed. "I'm sorry," she said, "I shouldn't really be discussing all of this with you. I don't even know your name.."

"Tonto," the man said, "Tonto Goldstein, but my friends call me Bubba."
