To All the Tater People in the World!!

Some people never seem motivated to participate, but are just content to watch while others do the work.  They are called "Spec Taters".

Some people never do anything either, but are gifted at finding fault with the way others do the work.
They are called "Comment Taters".

Some people are very bossy and like to tell others what to do, but don't want to soil their own hands.
They are called "Dick Taters".

Some people are always looking to cause problems by asking others to agree with them. It is too hot or toocold, too sour or too sweet.
They are called "Agie Taters".

There are those who say they will help, but somehow just never get around to actually doing the promised help.
They are call "Hezzie Taters".

Some people can put up a front and pretend to be someone they are not.
They are called "Emma Taters".

Then there are those who love others and do what they say they will. They are always prepared to stop whatever they are doing and lend a helping hand. They bring real sunshine into the lives of others.
They are called "Sweet Taters".

So, how's your day going? Hope it's better than this poor little guys!! Scary, huh?
From what I read later, his Mama showed up just in time!

The New Motto for 2010!!

Never allow someone to be your priority while allowing yourself to be their option."~Authur Unknown

A Poem About Our Girlfriends

Someone will always be prettier.
Someone will always be smarter.
Some of their houses will be bigger.
Some will drive a better car.
Their children will do better in school.
And their husband will fix more things around the house.
So let it go, and love you and your circumstances
Think about it!

The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart.
The most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children.
The richest woman you know, she's got the car, the house, the clothes~ might be lonely.

So, love who you are.
Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say,
'I am too Blessed to be Stressed and too Anointed, to be Disappointed!'
'Winners make things happen~~ Losers let things happen.'

AND! The doormats for the day!

2010 Contract

After serious & cautious consideration... your contract of friendship has been renewed for the New Year 2010!

It was a very hard decision to make... So try not to screw it up!!!

My Wish for You in 2010

May peace break into your home and may thieves come to steal your debts.
May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $50 notes.
May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips!
May happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy
May the problems you had, forget your home address!
In simple words ............

May 2010 be the best year of your life!!!

Happy New Year!

Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

The antidote for fifty enemies is one friend. ~Aristotle

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. ~Albert Schweitzer

A loyal friend laughs at your jokes when they're not so good, and sympathizes with your problems when they're not so bad. ~Arnold H. Glasgow

Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

Giving up doesn't always mean you are weak; sometimes it means that you are strong enough to let go.

Character may be manifested in the great moments, but it is made in the small ones.

Evening Words, Wisdom and Beauty

/\ Namaste
What brings more beauty, more joy and more pain into our lives than love and friendship? And you can't have one without the other.

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Kahlil Gibran

Love and doubt have never been on speaking terms.
Kahlil Gibran

In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
Kahlil Gibran

May you all enjoy the fruits of both.

Evening Words, Wisdom and Beauty

I'm frequently asked if I don't hate being so far from my three other children and say they wonder why we don't visit more frequently as two to three years between visits is not unusual. Actually, I don't hate it because I never feel separated from any of them, and of course, with the internet we can stay in very close touch. But it's more than that. I urged them to follow their dreams, not to feel they were tied to any particular location or that they in anyway owed it to me to live nearby. Adam did move me to Seattle two years ago, but it was a move that simply worked for both of us. I guess what all of this evening jabber is about is the fact that distance doesn't lessen the love that we feel for those we are separated from -- for whatever reasons. The love is always there.

A friend who is far away is sometimes much nearer than one who is at hand. Is not the mountain far more awe-inspiring and more clearly visible to one passing through the valley than to those who inhabit the mountain?
Kahlil Gibran

Everything comes to us that belongs to us if we create the capacity to receive it.
Rabindranath Tagore

Evening Words, Wisdom and Beauty

I was browsing through some poetry/quotes as I do almost every day because I've found there is always something by Gibran or Tagore that I can learn from. Usually I settle on one to share for the evening, but today these four grabbed me for whatever reason, so I decided to share all of them this evening.

If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. And if they don't, they never were.
Kahlil Gibran

If your heart is a volcano, how shall you expect flowers to bloom?
Kahlil Gibran

In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
Kahlil Gibran

Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children.
Kahlil Gibran

Tequila and Salt

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where you can read it every day. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.

11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

And always remember....
when life hands you Lemons,
ask for Tequila and Salt and call me over!

Good friends are like stars........
You don't always see them,
But you know they are always there.

And remember, whenever one door closes, another always opens, even though sometimes it's hell in the hallway!

Girls in My Circle

When I was little,
I used to believe in the concept of one best friend,
And then I started to become a woman.
And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up,
God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend is needed when you're going through things with your man.
Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your mom.
Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children and their activities.
Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.
One friend will say, 'Let's cry together,'
Another , 'Let's fight together,'
Another , 'Let's walk away together.'

One friend will meet your spiritual need,
Another your shoe fetish,
Another your love for movies,
Another will be with you in your season of confusion,
Another will be your clarifier,
Another the wind beneath your wings.

But whatever their assignment in your life,
On whatever the occasion,
On whatever the day,
Or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back,
Or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself ..
Those are your best friends.

It may all be wrapped up in one woman, But for many, it's wrapped up in several..
One from 7th grade,
One from high school,
Several from the college years,
a couple from old jobs,
On some days your mother,
On some days your neighbor,
On others, your sisters,
And on some days, your daughters.

"Life is too short to wake up with regrets..."

There comes a point in your life when you realize:
Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore...
And who always will.
So, don't worry about people from your past,
There's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.
Give these flowers to everyone you don't want to lose in 2009,

Be kinder than necessary
because everyone you meet is fighting
some kind of battle.

This Says It All

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.

BUT.........
Sisters are there,
no matter how much time and how
many miles are between you.
A girl friend is never farther away
than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you
have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life
will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,
praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on
your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the
valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk
beside you...Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,

daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,
Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended
family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and
neither would I. When we began this adventure called
womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or
sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we
would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still.

Let all the women who help make your life meaningful know.
I just did.
Short and very sweet:
There are more than twenty angels in this world.
Ten are peacefully sleeping on clouds.
Nine are playing.
And one is reading this post at this moment.

A Thought for the Day

Two friends were walking through the desert. During the journey, they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand:

"Today my best friend slapped me in the face."

The kept on walking, until the found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath.

The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.

After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone:

"Today my best friend saved my life."

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone. Why?"

The friend replied: "when someone hurts us we should write in down in sand, where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we muct engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

Learn to write your hurts in the sand and to carve your benefits in stone.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.

Searching For Beauty

The news has been so grim the past few days, the terroists in Mombai, the Wal-Mart employee killed by frenzied shoppers, the picture of a starving child in Africa and suddenly I felt an almost desperate need to find and share a little beauty. This picture I found quite by accident on the web and loved it! The others I just picked randomly from my photos because they're beautiful.

Posted by Picasa And, of course, my best friend, Sam Schnauzer.

Counting My Blessings

I sat down at my computer this evening intending to listen to some beautiful music, play a little solitaire, enjoy a glass of wine and suddenly I felt such an incredible sense of gratitude for and to all of the lovely and loving people that I have met through blogging! Over the past six months you have given me the joy of such a very special community of friends. Friends that care for and support one another in spite of the distances that separate us, the differences in our lives -- past and present. It was such an overwhelming feeling that I knew I simply had to express my feelings, my joy, my gratitude on this Thanksgiving Eve. I wish for each of you, joy and love and laughter, not just for this holiday season, but always.

A very Happy Thanksgiving!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
