This Says It All

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.

BUT.........
Sisters are there,
no matter how much time and how
many miles are between you.
A girl friend is never farther away
than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you
have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life
will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,
praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on
your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the
valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk
beside you...Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,

daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,
Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended
family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and
neither would I. When we began this adventure called
womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or
sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we
would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still.

Let all the women who help make your life meaningful know.
I just did.
Short and very sweet:
There are more than twenty angels in this world.
Ten are peacefully sleeping on clouds.
Nine are playing.
And one is reading this post at this moment.

Wow, what a wonderful thing this was! I'm going to call my sister today.

The ending of this was wonderfully sweet: thank you for the smile!

The wonderful women who wrote and called me when I was hospitalized and in rehab was living proof that angels are there when you need them. I am so grateful for my blog friends and my women relatives.

However, men can be angels as well. My son took loving care of me for a week and no woman could have done a better job.

i agree some sons and men are sensitive and caring also. having no sisters, i have several friends that are like sisters.

I do think this is true, we do have a sisterhood of women, but I didn't mean to imply that we can't/don't receive the same support, caring and love from many of the men in our lives. They, too, are capable of giving and sharing so much love. We need all the people in our lives, men and women to help us when we are in need, when we feel alone, helpless. At least I know that I do.

And, I might add, that in the good times both men and women can be there to share and celebrate the joy, the fun, and the love, just as they are there in the bad times. I guess that while I celebrate being a woman as well as appreciating the women in my life, I do the same for the men in my life.

There is a bond, however... an understanding between women that most men can't share.

Do they really understand what it feels like to carry a child in your belly? Do they understand the need to cry over nothing? Do they understand pantyhose and mascara and why we celebrate no longer needing tampax?

Do they enjoy a good chick flick? See the reasoning behind buying another pair of shoes? Why it's fun when we hide the bags of M&Ms from them?

There are just things women need women for. Men need men in the same way. And it's a good thing. It isn't a competition. It doesn't need to be compared, explained, or apologized for.

Every word of this wonderful post is true. And it touches me deeply. And it makes me want to throw confetti from the rooftops because I am a part of the magnificent world of women who reach out as easily to a stranger as they do to a friend of three decades.

I am woman... hear me sing my gratitude for the blessing of womanhood.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
