Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. ~M. Kathleen Casey

Humor is a reminder that no matter how high the throne one sits on, one sits on one's bottom. ~Taki

If you're going through hell, keep going. ~Winston Churchill

The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet. ~James Openheim

Hi Sylvia, I love your Fall colors, the seascape and everything you can offer. Peace and solace is what I feel in your place.

Some days I feel the valuable aphorisms have been made by those who have had much fortune for those that have had much fortune. They sound nice but may be little consolation for those who have had financial or physical misfortune. The words don't drive the bill collector or the the pain from the door. I met a lady once who said that if she didn't believe in the afterlife, she couldn't live in this world.

These are wonderful shots. The one at the top is so striking. Somehow the snow was unexpected - and on a warm day like today, much appreciated! Fantastic reflection in this one, too. Just breathtaking.

Great quotes, esp. "The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet". ~James Openheim. Thank you. :)

All of those quotes are good, but I particularly like this one:

"Humor is a reminder that no matter how high the throne one sits on, one sits on one's bottom. ~Taki"

LOL!

I love the last one - some of best experiences have grown from some of my darkest times!

I especially enjoy the first picture Sylvia.

If you're going through hell, keep going. ~Winston Churchill

If one feels pain, feel it for all its worth. It is there not to be ignored. Once at the center of pain, its job is complete and you can walk on through to the other side of pain where there is only peace.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
